PERISHER CUP
Rule 9 of the RULES OF YARAANDOO SKI CLUB CO-OPERATIVE LIMITED defines the Objects of the Co-operative the first of which is Rule 9(a) and it says:
“To encourage, develop and promote snow sports, skiing, ski-touring and other athletic sports and athletic games”.
Since the 1950’s the ski clubs in Perisher Valley have organized and run the Perisher Cup over the October Long Weekend. This is a friendly inter-club team event, where teams of four participate in cross-country relay, giant slalom, and a jump. Any age and skiing ability can compete. This event is extremely well supported by many Perisher based clubs. It is also strongly supported by Perisher Blue.
Club teams of four (4) competitors, plus one official per team are required.
Events are:
· Cross Country 4x2km Relay - all times to count.
· Giant Slalom - best three (3) times to count.
· Jump - best three (3) jumps (by three (3) different competitors to count).
From the 1960s Yaraandoo has intermittently entered a team with mixed results – we have never won it but thanks to Martin French’s sustained efforts to promote the event and recruit competitors over recent years we did come second last year (2007) to win the Perisher Plate.
It is worth contemplating the possibility that Yaraandoo could actually win it and with this year’s late season likely to contribute the best conditions for years why not make the commitment.
Please note that age is not an issue and families with children engaged in the Interschools Competition may be attracted to participate as a very enjoyable and fulfilling family and club oriented counterpoint. Accommodation at Yaraandoo is free-of-charge for participants and supporters for the October long weekend.

Good luck!
